Strong to gale force northerly winds persisted, bringing rain at times, occasional fog and single figure temperatures. During the seawatch, 297 Fulmars, ten Manx Shearwaters, five Ringed Plover, 32 Sanderling (double May’s previous daily maximum tally), the year’s first Arctic Skua and 759 Puffins flew north.
Two Red-breasted Mergansers sheltered off South Landing and the Nuthatch remained in South Dykes.
