A light south-easterly wind developed late morning in generally overcast skies. No fewer than three Sabine’s Gulls were seen off the headland: an adult and one juvenile flew south, with another juvenile feeding offshore for most of the day. A Goosander, 119 Teal, 47 Red-throated Divers, two Little Gulls and a juvenile Pomarine Skua flew south, whilst a Mediterranean Gull went to roost.
Thornwick Pools attracted two Pink-footed Geese, three Dunlin and a juvenile Arctic Tern. The year’s third Cetti’s Warbler was heard near the Whale Bridge in South Landing, where one of two Yellow-browed Warblers was seen; the other frequented gardens on the outer head. There were also a Ring Ouzel, one Redwing, two Wheatear, three Whinchat, two Stonechat and a Redstart.
RSPB Bempton Cliffs attracted three Golden Plover, six Goldcrests, a Pied Flycatcher, four Whinchat, two Stonechat and a Yellow Wagtail. Speeton hosted three Goldcrests and a Grey Wagtail.
