8th May 2019

An overcast day, with persistent rain throughout after a dry start; strong easterly winds ensured temperatures only reached nine degrees C. During the seawatch, two Tufted Duck,  the year’s first two Scaup, 23 Common Scoter, two Red-throated Divers and eight Sandwich Terns flew north. Thornwick Pools attracted two Redshank and a Dunlin, with a Whimbrel and two Dunlin on Stainforth’s Flash. A Black Tern off South Landing late afternoon represented the first spring record for 22 years, with a lone Swift also seen nearby.
