16th May 2016

The day started with gentle west-south-westerlies but switched to light north-north-easterlies by the afternoon, sunshine and highs of 11°C. At Thornwick Pool the two Little Ringed Plover remain, with two Common Sandpiper and a single Dunlin for company. A Short-eared Owl was present on the Outer Head; a Little Egret flew north past North Landing and a Red-breasted Merganser was at South Landing. Elsewhere, singles of Spotted Flycatcher, Redwing, Lesser Redpoll and Bar-tailed Godwit were noted.
