4th July 2015

The day started with misty conditions and rain before sunshine broke through early afternoon and the temperature reached 26 degrees C in light south-west winds. During the seawatch, a Red-throated Diver flew north, 16 Manx Shearwaters went south, a Gadwall did the same, whilst a small southerly movement of waders occurred involving three Knot, two Dunlin, three Curlew and three Redshank. An adult Mediterranean Gull also flew north, along with 14 Sandwich and five Common Terns and a Bonxie lingered offshore.

Thornwick Pools attracted a Grey Heron, two Green Sandpipers, two Little Ringed Plovers and a White Wagtail. In addition, a Red-veined Darter hawked over the Pool.
