The weather consisted of light/moderate south-east winds, sunny intervals and temperatures that reached 19 degrees C. Seawatching highlights included a Bar-tailed Godwit, a juvenile Yellow-legged Gull, 95 Sandwich Terns, five Common Terns, six Arctic Terns and single Bonxie and Arctic Skua all flying north.
Thornwick Pools attracted two Teal, two Ruff, single Ringed and Little Ringed Plovers, 13 Dunlin, four Common Sandpipers, a Redshank and a Grey Wagtail. Elsewhere, Buckton Pond hosted two Green Sandpipers and South Landing a juvenile Mediterranean Gull, with a Green Sandpiper flying over. The day’s highlight related to the discovery of a Long-eared Owl on the edge of the Golf Course; a Pied Flycatcher remained in the same area.
