29th January 2018

The weather consisted of moderate westerly winds, light rain first thing that cleared later to ensure a bright and sunny end to the day. Sightings from South Landing included a Shelduck and 53 Red-throated Divers flying south; an additional 24 Red-throats were on the sea, together with 36 Great Crested Grebes and an Eider. A total of 50 ‘sinensis’ Cormorants at the same location easily represented a January record.

The White-fronted Goose remained faithful to Water Lane, a Grey Wagtail overflew the latter site and the Nuthatch visited feeders in South Dykes. Meanwhile, after being absent for a few days, the Richard’s Pipit re-appeared in the north-west corner of the Golf Course.
