28th March 2017

An overcast day, misty at times with light variable winds. Two Woodcock were present at South Landing, with the juvenile Glaucous Gull re-appearing on fields near North Marsh mid-afternoon; presumably the same individual had earlier patrolled the cliffs at Bempton. Passerine sightings included 14 Goldcrests, 38 Chiffchaffs, a Grey Wagtail and a Lesser Redpoll. A ringing session was rewarded with 36 birds caught, including 12 Chiffchaffs and the aforementioned Lesser Redpoll.

West of the Dykes, two Short-eared Owls remained in residence at Bempton Cliffs RSPB.
