Generally overcast, with occasional sunny intervals and showers, a blustery westerly wind and high of 18 degrees C. The seawatch was above average with four species of skuas recorded, including no fewer than ten Long-tailed Skuas and a ‘spooned’ adult Pomarine Skua. Additional highlights included ten Barnacle Geese heading north, a Goldeneye, ten Pintail, 390 Little Gulls, two first-winter Caspian Gulls, a first-winter Yellow-legged Gull and four Mediterranean Gulls. Two Brent Geese, two Bar-tailed Godwits and four Dunlin were recorded at South Landing.
Yellow-browed Warblers remained at South Dykes and Thornwick Roost, while other passerine migrants include a Lesser Whitethroat on the outer head; six Brambling were shared between South Dykes and Thornwick Roost.
Sightings from RSPB Bempton Cliffs included 22 Barnacle Geese and 80 Pink-footed Geese flying south-east. Better still, a ringtail Hen Harrier hunted cliff top fields at Buckton, where 65 Pink-footed Geese fed in fields. Elsewhere, a Jay was seen over Bridlington Links GC.
