Moderate south-westerly winds featured throughout a largely sunny day, with temperatures reaching 20 degrees C. During the seawatch, an Eider, 21 Common Scoters, ten Sandwich Terns and three Common Terns flew north.
Proof positive that it’s rarely ‘too late’ before June is out, a Golden Oriole sang at South Landing early morning only and a Common Rosefinch rested briefly in the Lighthouse bushes. Other notable sightings included a Ringed Plover, 228 Swifts moving south, a ‘migrant’ Reed Warbler on the edge of the Gorse Field, one Grey Wagtail, nine Siskin and two Crossbills.
