Southerly winds gradually increased in strength during a largely sunny day, with temperatures reaching 20 degrees C. During the seawatch, 17 Oystercatchers, three Whimbrel and 15 Redshank flew south, with 76 Sandwich Terns and 28 Common Terns flying north.
A Little Egret appeared on a small pool near the Lighthouse, whilst Thornwick Pools attracted nine Ringed Plovers, 20 Dunlin and a Green Sandpiper. An additional two Ringed Plovers and 19 Golden Plovers also overflew the headland. A juvenile Cuckoo was located on the outer head, where hirundine numbers increased to 18 Sand Martins, 130 Swallows, 290 House Martins.
West of the Dykes, sightings from Bempton Cliffs RSPB included two Marsh Harriers, 24 Golden Plover and 13 Snipe. Notable sightings at Buckton involved a juvenile Cuckoo and a Willow Tit. A Little Egret and nine Ringed Plovers were also recorded at Sewerby.
