Light westerly winds first thing, veering easterly by the afternoon; prolonged sunny intervals and temperatures reached 17 degrees C. Seawatch highlights included 17 Red-throated Divers, six Manx Shearwaters, 453 Common Gulls (north), four Bonxies and an Arctic Skua. Thornwick Pools attracted five Teal, a Little Ringed Plover and two Dunlin. Passerine interest included a Spotted Flycatcher, ten Wheatear, eight Whinchat, one Stonechat and two Redstarts. Sightings from RSPB Bempton Cliffs included the headland’s third Barred Warbler of the autumn; in addition there were three Goldcrests, three Whinchat, three Wheatear and 24 Yellow Wagtails.
