Light winds throughout which were variable in direction, sunny intervals with increasing cloud and a best of 19 degrees C. A day of quality over quantity, with the late afternoon discovery of a Western Bonelli’s Warbler on the south side of Old Fall the highlight; this represents the first record since a single at South Landing in mid-October 2021. In addition, a Barred Warbler was along the Motorway hedge early morning only, while a Grey Phalarope flew north before landing off the Fog Station at a similar time. Other sightings on the outer head included 12 Pink-footed Geese, a Curlew Sandpiper, a Greenshank, one Whimbrel, a Hobby, a first-winter Yellow-legged Gull, a Jay, two Spotted Flycatchers, a Pied Flycatcher, four Wheatear and a Grey Wagtail.
Sightings from Cliff Lane, Bempton included seven Snipe flying west and two Raven, while a Brambling was at the nearby reserve.
