Another quality month for ringing across the headland with a total of 33 sessions being held, 665 birds were caught with 540 of these newly ringed and 95 re-traps/controls.

The roost at Thornwick delivered a surprise Snipe on the 3rd, and more waders were caught at a session on South Landing beach were one Dunlin and four Ringed plover were ringed.

The team at RSPB Bempton Cliffs had a couple of excellent ringing sessions: on the 24th they caught a Blyth’s Reed Warbler and a session in ideal fall conditions of easterly winds saw them ring the first two Yellow-browed Warblers of the year, alongside 46 Robins, seven Brambling, five Lesser Redpoll and a single Redwing.

A work party was held at South Landing to prepare the rides and ringing room for the upcoming Migweek, which sees the team run ringing demonstrations daily.
