Overcast with only occasional sunny intervals. Winds switched from moderate north-westerlies in the morning, to lighter north-easterlies during the afternoon; temperatures peaked at 16 degrees C. Conditions looked conducive for seawatching, proved by an impressive five Great Shearwaters re-orientating back north after the blow. Other notable records included 24 pale-bellied Brent Geese, 150 Sooty Shearwaters, 635 Common Terns, 68 Little Gulls, four first-winter Caspian Gulls, a first-winter Yellow-legged Gull, 33 Arctic Skuas, 20 Bonxies, 68 Red-throated Divers and 109 Manx Shearwaters. Cetacean interest included a pod of ten Common Dolphins moving north (a true Flamborough rarity) and a Minke Whale. A Short-eared Owl hunted the Lighthouse Grassland, with single Hobby, Common Redstart and Wheatear nearby.
Notable records from RSPB Bempton Cliffs included a Merlin, three Ravens, two Spotted Flycatchers and 12 Siskin.
