Sunny intervals, light variable winds and a high of 21 degrees C. The Cattlemere rocks hosted five juvenile Caspian Gulls, a Little Egret, four Eider, two Dunlin and nine Whimbrel. Elsewhere, Thornwick Pools attracted single Snipe, Green Sandpiper and Dunlin. A Short-eared Owl toured the outer head where four Quail, seven Willow Warblers, two Wheatear, two Spotted Flycatchers and five Yellow Wagtails were also present. A juvenile Mediterranean Gull was off North Landing, while a singing Grasshopper Warbler was on the opposite side of the head at South Dykes.
Increased cloud, especially inland, induced a Swift movement: 585 flew south-west over the outer head in the evening. Seawatch highlights included a juvenile Mediterranean Gull and one Arctic Skua.
An additional two Quail were singing between RSPB Bempton Cliffs and Hoddy Cows Lane, Buckton. A creamcrown Marsh Harrier also hunted cliff top fields in the Bempton area, as did a Merlin.
