A light wind from the south-west backed south-east in the afternoon of a day that featured sunny intervals and temperatures that reached 20 degrees C. During the seawatch, 66 Manx Shearwaters flew south, along with two Whimbrel, five Knot, 55 Dunlin and 50 Common Terns; 69 Sandwich Terns and an Arctic Skua flew north, whilst a juvenile Caspian Gull attending a fishing boat off the headland was a highlight.
A ringing session at South Landing was rewarded with 46 birds being trapped and ringed, with notable records seven Willow Warblers, a Wood Warbler and a Tree Pipit.
Sightings from RSPB Bempton Cliffs included single Red Kite and juvenile Marsh Harrier, 120 Swallows, six Willow Warblers, a Garden Warbler and seven Yellow Wagtails; a Minke Whale fed offshore.
