The weather consisted of sunny intervals, showers post-lunch and a south-easterly wind that gradually increased in strength; temperatures reached 17 degrees C. During the morning’s seawatch, five Shelduck, 20 Common Scoter and 12 Knot flew south. A lone Common Tern moved north, a Bonxie lingered offshore and the year’s first Guillemot chick to leave the ledges accompanied an adult off the Fog Station.
The discovery of a singing Blyth’s Reed Warbler at Old Fall was the highlight; the second individual of the spring, it proved elusive throughout. Other notable sightings included a Tufted Duck, three Grey Herons, a Hobby, two Little Ringed Plovers, a Redshank, one Curlew and two Siskins.
