16th December 2019

Another day of relatively strong south-west winds, sunny intervals and temperatures that reached five degrees C. The Whooper Swan lingered in fields on the outer head, whilst the Black Redstart remained in residence at the Fog Station, with two Stonechats nearby. A total of 38 Snow Buntings was recorded: a flock of 18  birds near North Marsh and 20 along the cliff top south of the Lighthouse. Sightings from RSPB Bempton Cliffs included 21 Pink-footed Geese flying south and a Short-eared Owl hunting the cliff top.
